What is a 3PL logistics operator?

A 3 PL (Third Party Logistics), or better known as a logistics operator, is a company that carries out the planning, implementation and control of the efficient and effective flow and storage of goods, services and associated information, from the point of origin to the point of consumption, in order to satisfy customer requirements.

A logistics operator can also be a company that specializes in one or more areas of the logistics chain. However, this type of logistics operator must have some characteristic that differentiates it from a traditional service provider included in the logistics chain. This difference must lie in their knowledge of the logistics chain as a whole and their ability to cooperate and even take the initiative towards greater efficiency in the operation of the chain.
